Service Description

Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) uses gentle, rhythmic movements to safely stretch your muscles and fascia. What is unique about AIS is the length of time involved with each and every stretch. AIS uses a 2-second rule and active muscle engagement for every stretch. Active muscle contractions create a safe and optimal environment for flexibility gains and healing. Repetition remodels tissue and creates a “pumping” action, which increases circulation to the targeted tissues. AIS prepares you and your clients for any activity – from everyday tasks to the rigors of athletics. Prevent injuries and promote faster recovery with a set of dynamic stretching protocols. In this basic-level class you will explore how to stretch yourself and distinguish what each stretch should feel like. Use the techniques to stretch your shoulders, neck, spine, forearms and hands while evaluating your own range and movement potential. Apply this knowledge to build a home stretching program for your clients’ own self-care. Course content is geared towards healthcare and fitness professionals. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Date held: May 14 & 15th Upper Classes: Sat May 14th 9am or 3pm Lower Classes: Sun May 15th 9am or 3pm Cost: early registration - $100 / class after 2 weeks prior to class $125 / class Instructor: Joshua Morton, LMT, MAISS, MMLT
