Active Isolated Stretching Along Fascial Lines for the Lower Body|8hrs

Date Held: Sunday, Oct 9th, 2022

Time: 9am-6pm (1 hour for lunch)

Instructor: Joshua Morton, LMP, MAISS, MMLT

Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a dynamic technique that stretches muscles, tendons, and fascia specific to anatomical planes of movement. Utilizing and expanding on the principles developed by Aaron Mattes, this unique stretching technique restores joint mobility and stability, reduces muscular/fascial tension, changes neurology and improves circulation.

AIS remodels the body using gentle, rhythmic movements. The simple yet profound difference is to avoid triggering the myotatic (stretch) reflex. When applied correctly, AIS reduces neurological tension and creates a venous/lymphatic pump, reducing fascial tension and increasing circulation. Using this pain free system of movement can be key to restoring healthy function.

This class explores the Lower Body fascial line meridians described by Tom Meyers in his work Anatomy Trains. Applying AIS principles to stretch the fascial lines has shown even more dramatic results than previously realized with AIS alone. Learning how to stretch the fascial lines opens up a whole new avenue to address dysfunction in the nerves and soft tissues. This approach allows you to "touch" tissues that are not easily addressed manually. The amazing difference will be felt immediately.

This class completes one of the requirements for gaining advanced AIS level certification with AIS Northwest.
